The legal limits in Italy — and why, in practice, the space you have matters more.
In Italy the maximum size of vehicles on the road is set by the Highway Code, art. 61 ("size limit"). It applies to all motor vehicles, motorhomes included.

Width is measured without the movable rear-view mirrors. For refrigerated vans (ATP) the width can reach 2.60 m, but that does not concern motorhomes.
A production motorhome is about 2.2–2.35 m wide, 2.6–3.2 m tall and 5–7.5 m long: well within the legal limits. So the real obstacle is not the law, but the actual space: the driveway, the gate, the garage, the eaves, the bridge or the road where you have to maneuver. That is where the motorhome "doesn't fit".

Two measurements are more deceptive than any other:
Width with the mirrors. The law does not count them, but for getting through a narrow opening they matter a lot. With the mirrors open a motorhome can measure 25–30 cm more per side.
Height with the accessories. The stated height is almost always without the air conditioner, a loaded bike rack, open hatches or antenna. Under eaves, a balcony or a bridge it is the real height that counts.
In the calculator you can account for both: the "roof accessories" shortcuts add the right centimeters to the height, and the check considers the space for the mirrors.
These are size limits. There are also weight limits (which affect license and inspection): with a category B license you drive vehicles up to 3,500 kg. These are aspects separate from size and should be checked in the vehicle documents and official sources.
